Our first common action as European Grandparents for Climate took place on May 31. We blew whistles at noon in front of national parliaments and in other public places as a wake-up call for the European Elections.

In Belgium, it is tradition for children (aged 3 to about 12) to festively read a letter addressed to their parents and grandparents on 1 January. Often this letter has been carefully drafted at school and is full of wishes and promises. We, the Flemish Grandparents for Climate, turn the tables: on 1 January, one of our ambassadors addresses the grandchildren in a letter of promises to future generations.

As it happens, Nyanchama Okemwa, the ambassador who wrote this year’s letter has read it twice, in Dutch and in English. So we are happy to share it with you:
