We are shocked and deeply saddened by the passing of Marjan Minnesma. Her tireless dedication to the climate cause was of immeasurable importance in advancing climate action in the Netherlands and far beyond.
She played a pivotal role in the founding of numerous initiatives, including Dutch Grandparents for the Climate. The idea for the Dutch movement was born during the March on Paris in 2015, and from the very beginning, Marjan stood by us with unwavering support. She guided and encouraged us through every challenge, and was present at key milestones, inspiring us with her concise yet deeply meaningful words.
Marjan had a remarkable ability to communicate powerful, fact-based arguments with clarity and brevity, always connecting them to practical solutions. This gift benefited not only our organization, but also the many other initiatives she led or supported – efforts that were often ahead of their time and that continue to make a lasting impact.
We will remember her with deep respect and gratitude for all she has done for the well-being of future generations.
