At the end of the EGC Annual Meeting the 2-person UK delegation paid an impromptu visit on Sunday 27 September to the International Criminal Court in The Hague in order to ask what progress had been made in bringing powerful individuals, such as certain CEOs, to account for committing ecocide.

This follows a hopeful response to Pacific Islands and Young People’s Groups in 2024 by the International Court of Justice (in the Peace Palace just up the road) on the matter.
After the Police had attended we were permitted to speak to Security and asked if they could pass on a message from us. This was refused, but we intend to return to the issue, hopefully under the aegis of EGC. We felt that our small gesture fitted well with EGC’s increasing concern about Big Finance being able to act in a climate-wrecking manner with impunity.
