Pay attention to this date!

On March 27 we published a news item on Earth Overshoot Day and we presented Grandparents for Climate buttons to give it attention.

Earth Overshoot Day marks the date when humanity’s demand for ecological resources and services in a given year exceeds what Earth can regenerate in that year. We maintain this deficit by liquidating stocks of ecological resources and accumulating waste, primarily carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The Global Footprint Network published the date for this year last June 5th.

If you are active in a local or national climate organisation, you could mark the 24th of July by pointing at the difference with your Country’s Overshoot Day.

It is alarming to see the evolution of that day over the years.
